Mom's Best Irish Soda Bread
  • 4 Cups  All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon  Baking Soda
  • 3 Teaspoons  Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon  Salt
  • 1/2 Cup  Sugar
  • 1/2 Box  Raisin

Or

  • 1 Tablespoon  Caraway Seeds
  • 2 Eggs -- beaten
  • 2 Cups  Buttermilk

Pre heat oven to 375F

Grease and flour two loaf pans

Sift the first 4 ingredients together

Stir in the sugar and raisins (use more or less raisins to your taste) or caraway seeds

Mix in the eggs and buttermilk until moistened, add more buttermilk if necessary

Put 1/2 the mixture into each of the pans.

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.  The bread is done when golden brown and delicious

Yield:
  "2 Loaves"
