Associate Account Manager - United States

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is for a long-term career in consultative selling and offers a comprehensive 6 to 12 month one-on-one training program in Philadelphia corporate headquarters as an Associate Account Manager. Upon completion of the training program, the Associate Account Manager will relocate to a sales territory within the Continental United State as an Account Manger.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training offers hands on exposure to every aspect of our business and covers product knowledge, customer service, company operations, and professional selling skills. 

  • This is a sales training position geared toward developing knowledge and an understanding of DM products, procedures and policies.
  • It entails supporting the Total Customer Satisfaction Department in their daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Establishes and manages effective programs to address the following issues:
    • Qualifying accounts
    • Managing requests from existing clients.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Excellent knowledge of company's products, pricing practices, and selling skills.
  • Excellent time management, communications, decision-making, human relations, presentation and organization skills.
  • Professional appearance and presentation required.

EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in flavor or food ingredient sales preferred; however, 1-3 years of sales experience from other industries or experience in the food and beverage industry (purchasing, R&D, marketing) will be considered.
  • Must have the desire and aptitude for a long-term career in consultative sales.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Valid US Driver’s License.

 


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • General office environment.
  • Extensive travel required, up to 80% of the time (4 out of 5 days a week should include a customer visit).
  • Average hours per week: 40.
  • Ability to sit in a car for up to six hours.
  • Capable of carrying containers up to 50 lbs.

    Senior Flavor Chemist

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create and prepare flavors as well as assist in various Laboratory functions.
    • Interface with Quality Control and Regulatory.
    • Independently create flavors as directed through project requirements.
    • Create, execute, analyze, and implement designs of experiments on internal and customer profiles.
    • Prepare project plans and schedules to meet and complete companies’ objectives.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as analytical, food science and research to support flavor creation.
    • Participate in all sensory taste panels and discussions.
    • Collaborate with VP/Technical Director on Special Projects.
    • Leadership role in assessing new Innovations and Flavor Technology.
    • Expertly develop flavor solutions including flavor duplications, new creations, and modifications across a broad range of flavor profiles to meet customer and internal project requests.
    • Develop and apply appropriate methods to test stability of aroma chemicals and flavor materials through processing and application.
    • Manage and successfully mentor Junior Flavorist and Technician staff. Train Flavorists and Application Technologists in flavor chemistry and flavor processing.
    • Support Sales & Marketing objectives and directly interact/visit with target/key customers in support of existing and new business growth opportunities.
    • Participate in internal and external training and seminars for technical team, sales, customers, or new hires.
    • Drive the investigation and discovery of new ingredients technologies, materials, and methods that will provide innovative solutions to customer and industry challenges.
    • Serve as the flavor expert during the transfer of flavor formulas from bench to successful production by applying in depth understanding of processes and operations to ensure successful product scale-up and troubleshooting of problems.

    • Use flavor creation formula tools effectively and efficiently such as Devex and lotus Notes.
    • Knowledge of food and flavor regulations and labeling.
    • Generate technical data needed for formula completion and shipping.
    • Knowledge of David Michael’s total product categories and core strengths.
    • Prepare flavor samples as created and apply to application mediums for evaluation.
    • Participate and lead customer technical working sessions in Philadelphia and at customers facility when necessary.
    • Explore, research, develop flavor delivery or processing systems.
    • Participate in quality control evaluation taste panels.
    • Work in conjunction and assist flavor applications food scientists when requested.
    • Obtain laboratory items and target samples for projects that are typically grocery store marketed items.
    • Coordinate and prepare project materials for presentations and shipping.
    • Maintain raw material ingredient stock within the laboratory.
    • Maintain laboratory in a clean, orderly, safe manner.
    • Follow all appropriate safety and laboratory procedures.
    • Participate in Innovation forums, i.e. “Road Show”, TMIG (technical marketing interface group).
    • Attend industry related flavor meetings, seminars, or work shops.
    • Participate in brain storming, ideation meetings when necessary.

    QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

    • Must demonstrate a superior sense of smell and taste.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to build good relationships with peers and customers.
    • Capable of excellent odor memory and recall.
    • Instinctive and self motivated.
    • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
    • Regarded as an "expert" in flavor creation with a minimum of 15-20 years of progressive flavor development experience and an artistic flair for flavor creation.
    • Thorough understanding and knowledge of flavor analytical methods for flavor analysis.
    • Proven track record of commercial success in flavor development.
    • Experience defining and assessing project requirements (project management) designing and managing experiments & effectively communicating and presenting results.
    • Strong customer focus – both internal and external.
    • Experience effectively collaborating with cross functional teams.
    • Excellent organoleptic skills and knowledge of sensory language required.
    • Ability to influence others and do so in a leadership role.

    EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 15-20 years experience in a laboratory situation in the food, flavor, or beverage industry.
    • 5+ years supervising employees and/or leading teams.
    • BS and/or MS in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field
    • Successfully achieved Certified status in the Society of Flavor Chemists or Complete the David Michael Flavor Chemist Training program as outlined in the syllabus and achieve certified status in the Society of Flavor Chemists
    • Competency in developing a wide range of winning flavors for various applications such as Beverages, Dairy, Bakery and Cereal

      Accounts Payable Clerk

      SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Opening, stamping and distributing Accounts Payable Dept. mail. Matching of vendor invoices with supporting purchase orders, receiving reports and /or other documents. Preparation of Accounts Payable Input forms. Processing Account Manager expense reports (checking of receipts and preparation of A/P Input forms). Distribution of invoices and supporting documents for approval. Batching of approved invoices for data entry. Review of Accounts Payable batches after data entry is complete. Maintain accounts payable batch and payment log. Attaching copies to paid invoices and remittance advice to checks. Filing paid invoices. Act as a backup for data entry of Accounts Payable batches and weekly check runs.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Opening, stamping and distributing Accounts Payable Dept. mail

      • Preparing A/P Input Form
      • Checking receipts and processing Account Manager expense reports for reimbursement
      • Distributing invoices with supporting documents to appropriate individuals for approval
      • Batching invoices for Data Entry and preparing a control tape of invoice amounts in the batch.
      • Reviewing Accounts Payable batches after data entry is complete
      • Data entry of Accounts Payable batches when there are work backlogs in IT
      • File paid and unpaid invoices in filing cabinets
      • To fill-in for accounting personnel that are on vacation, sick or otherwise absent from work, and as needed in instances of work backlogs.
      • Process weekly check run when Accounts Payable supervisor is not available
      • Maintain Accounts Payable Batch Log
      • Assist with special projects as needed.
      • Perform data entry functions for special projects in other departments as needed.

      QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

      • Able to match vendor invoices with supporting purchase orders and receiving reports.
      • Able to select proper general ledger account code for transaction.
      • Able to operate a calculator.
      • Detailed oriented
      • Familiar with operation of Windows based personal computer.
      • High School Diploma
