Flavorist - David Michael Beijing

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

David Michael (Beijing) Flavor Co. Ltd. Currently has an immediate opportunity for a highly motivated, success driven Flavorist to join our rapidly growing team in Beijing China. This position will report directly to the Deputy General Manager – Technical Director.

  • Creating finished flavors using basic natural and/or synthetic flavor raw materials in response to directed profiles and market trends
  • Evaluate new raw materials and assists Quality Control in organoleptic evaluation of manufactured flavor products and purchased raw materials
  • Work with Sales, Marketing and Food Technology as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop new business
  • Be an integral part of David Michael global Technical team.


QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor degree in food technology, food science or chemistry with 5 to 10 years experience, including independent work in creating flavors
  • In-depth knowledge of essential oils and Natural and Artificial raw materials
  • Outstanding team work and organizational skills
  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Fluent in Mandarin, Chinese and English.

    Sales Training Account Management Program

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
    This entry level position FOR SPRING 2012 offers a comprehensive 12 month one-on-one training program in Philadelphia corporate headquarters. Upon completion of the program the individual must relocate to a sales territory in a US major city as an Account Manager. Training offers hands on exposure to every aspect of our business and covers product knowledge, customer service, company operations, and professional selling skills. Our goal is to have the most knowledgeable sales force in the industry.
    This is a creative, consultative, professional sales position geared toward developing new business opportunities and servicing existing business. It entails building long-term relationships, supporting our clients in their endeavors to create new food products, helping them utilize our products effectively, and offering customized solutions. Emphasis is on the development process rather than the quick close.

      Bakery & Cereal Applications Technologist

      SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
      Assist Senior Food Technologist/Bakery & Cereal Project Leader as directed to develop new and existing technologies in bakery and cereal applications that showcase all David Michael products, capabilities and flavors in presentations and to assist new and existing customers. To provide technical information and assistance to all David Michael departments as necessary. Excellent communication, formulation and concept development. To provide subjective and objective organoleptic evaluations of David Michael flavors in Bakery and Cereal Applications. To understand our customers specific requirements and to translate them into successful completion of projects.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Assist Senior Food Technologist/Bakery & Cereal Project Leader to develop prototypes of new creative idea items using David Michael products and technology.
      • Progressing to the point of being able to complete projects on an independent basis with minimal supervision.
      • Assist Senior Food Technologist/Bakery & Cereal Project Leader to evaluate and select all flavors that are appropriate for sample requests as assigned for your technical project area.
      • Progressing to doing sample requests on an independent basis.
      • Provide support, problem solving and issue resolutions related to Bakery & Cereal Applications.
      • Provide all necessary technical communications to account managers and to new and existing customers.
      • Maintain Bakery & Cereal Applications department laboratory in a clean and organized manner and order supplies needed in order for all projects to be completed on time.
      • To have a working knowledge of product and flavor labeling.
      • Ability to work effectively on a team with Flavor Chemists, Marketing, Sensory and Management.
      • Develop a knowledge of customers’ brands and products in order to bring new and innovative ideas to the clients.
      • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of David Michael flavors and ingredients.
      • Record appropriate documentation for Bakery & Cereal Applications’ project work.
      • Participate in internal sensory panels.
      • Keep informed of new ingredients, equipment and industry trends.
      • Accountable to Senior Food Technologist/Bakery & Cereal Project Leader
      • All other duties as assigned.


      QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

      EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

      • B.S. Degree in Food Science/Engineering or related field, or equivalent years of experience.
      • 2+ years of experience in flavor applications, bakery/cereal product development.
      • Production facility experience a plus in bakery or cereal food manufacturing.

      WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
