ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This entry level position offers a comprehensive 12 to 18 month one-on-one training program in DM’s Philadelphia corporate headquarters. Upon competition of the program the individual must relocate to sales territory in a US major city as an Account Manager. Training offers hands on exposure to every aspect of our business and covers product knowledge, customer service, company operations, and professional selling skills. Our goal is to have the most knowledgeable sales force in the industry.

This is a creative, consultative, professional sales position geared toward developing new business opportunities and servicing existing business. It entails building long-term relationships, supporting our clients in their endeavors to create new food products, helping them utilize our products effectively, and offering customized solutions. Emphasis is on the development process rather then the quick close.

    Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Product Compliance

    SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manages the regulatory function within David Michael to achieve and maintain updated compliance to the applicable regulations affecting our industry;
    Provides internal and external customer support and guidance regarding our products and services; Assists in the establishment of current and future regulatory requirements for our business activities and, functions are highly interdependent with other departments including sales and manufacturing.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrate and promote the company vision
    • Completion of product submission/registrations in accordance with current global regulations and guidelines
    • Review and approve product release status for new products
    • Prepare regulatory product related submissions
    • Assist in conducting compliance audits
    • Monitor global regulatory developments and formulate corporate response
    • Maintain knowledge of current regulations and potential developments across industry and participate in formulating company response
    • Identify regulatory challenges within company and provide development of resolution

        Associate Marketing and Consumer Insights Manager

        SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
        In conjunction with the Marketing and Consumer Insights Manager, assist and support the Vice President, Marketing in achieving the goals set forth for the Marketing Department. In addition, provide marketing support as required to assist in the efforts of our Account Managers and Technical Department.

        ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
        Primary:

        • Conduct product category research.
        • Conduct Industry trends research.
        • Create and deliver client presentations.
        • Creation and distribution of monthly Fast Track Fast Trends reports.
        • Contribute to company blog and twitter accounts, with video as appropriate.
        • Conduct webinars as needed.
        • Client/technical/sales support for internal and external projects.
        • Serve on planning committee for Innovation Roadshow, including the creation of support material, and provide back-up (if needed) for the creation/presentation of the “Roadmap to the Roadshow” presentation.
        • Develop and manage unique opportunities to see what’s trending/stay ahead of trends (ie, conduct various city food tours with our customers). These will be developed as time permits.
        • Assist with/support value-added programs for the benefit of our customers and account managers (ie, specific new product introduction ideas).

        Secondary:

        • Handle requests from trade publications for article information.
        • Assist with yearly calendar creation project.
        • Assist with Departmental budget preparation.
        • Participate in meetings with advertising agency and trade publications.

        QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

        • In-depth understanding of marketing is needed.
        • Excellent computer skills are required (Excel, Lotus Notes, Power Point and Corel Draw skills are a plus).
        • Excellent writing skills and communication skills are needed.
        • Must be experienced in market research.\
        • Must be a skilled/experienced public speaker.
        • Must be a quick learner, able to think on their feet, juggle a multitude of tasks, well organized, in addition to showing leadership skills, initiative and the ability to stay focused.

          Freight Traffic Coordinator

          SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

          Responsible for overseeing all shipping and transportation issues, while providing highest level of service to all customers.

          ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

          • Primary associate responsible for coordinating daily domestic and international shipments.
          • Arrange daily freight pick up for ground and air shipments by contacting customers, carriers and logistic companies for shipping instructions.
          • Prepare bill of ladings to customers’ specifications.
          • Coordinate internal paperwork for international shipments.
          • Prepare hazardous declarations when needed for shipments and samples.
          • Follow up with customers with necessary information after order ship.
          • Maintain files and file claims when necessary.

          QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

          • General knowledge of transportation, inco terms, international shipping and DOT rules.
          • Experience in preparing shipping documents for domestic and international shipments, with an emphasis on the later.
          • Shipping knowledge of hazardous materials.
          • Current hazmat certifications (DOT, IATA, IMDG).
          • Strong attention to detail & good note keeping a must.
          • Good computer & strong telephone skills.
          • Working knowledge of Lotus notes a plus.
          • Must work well under pressure.

          EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

          • A high school degree is required.
          • Any additional education a plus.
          • Minimum of three to five years experience in traffic and customer service; including shipping operations required.

          WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

          • Majority of time is spent at the desk.

            QUALITY SYSTEMS AND SAFETY COORDINATOR

            SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
            Reports to Manager of Quality Systems and Safety. Works independently with various departments to establish and maintain our safety programs.

            ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

            • Assists in conducting facility and employee monitoring.
            • Oversees and monitors hazardous material handling.
            • Assists with employee training in food safety, occupational safety (e.g. Hazard Communication, PPE), HazMat transportation, and environmental safety programs (e.g. SPCC).
            • Conducts inspections and audits of facility and prepares reports.
            • Manages the food safety environmental monitoring program.
            • Assists with the maintenance of our Approved Supplier Program.
            • Manages and maintains the purchase and inventory of safety equipment.
            • Required member of various company safety teams.
            • Prepares necessary reports in regards to Quality Systems.

            QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

            • Knowledge of government requirements and industry standards.
            • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making, human relations and communications skills.
            • PCs and various software applications.

            EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

            • Minimal Bachelor's degree (with in concentrated areas such as; Science, Safety, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Health or Engineering.
            • Typically requires 5 or more years of technical experience in food safety or occupational safety.

            • General office (climate controlled) and plant environment.

              Cost Accountant

              SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
              Perform cost accounting duties.  Perform costing of product formulas for Price Quote system. Assist in maintenance of customer/product files and costing functions.

              ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

              • Maintain customer, item, product formula and special customer/item master files
              • Maintain inventory cost accounting systems
              • Prepare and file monthly alcohol drawback report
              • Maintain vanilla bean and vanilla concentrate costs.  Perform vanilla bean purchase requirement calculations.
              • Perform product cost analysis reviews
              • Complete the costing section of the Price Quote system
              • Involvement in
                -    yearend physical inventory count
                -    pricing and reconciliation of yearend physical inventory
              • Perform valuation of inventories (material labor and overhead costs)
              • Perform inventory obsolescence review
              • Perform sales rebate calculations and issue or apply rebates
              • Perform or assist management on special projects, as needed
              • Assign raw material numbers to new ingredients
              • Perform costing of raw materials
              • Maintain in DevEx ingredient updated current and future cost quotes received from Purchasing Dept.  Request cost updates from Purchasing Dept.
              • Check the accuracy of the cost of product formulas on the DevEx system
              • Assist Cost Accounting manager, as needed
              • Assist in Accounting Department, as needed

              QUALIFICATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:

              • Cost Accounting knowledge
              • Clerical accuracy is essential
              • Perform unit of measure conversions, volume to weight and metric
              • Knowledge and experience in the use of desktop computers

              EDUCATION/ TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

              • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
              • 4 – 6 years’ experience in manufacturing / cost accounting environment
